Is popping of clogs a British expression?
Popping of clogs, I think, refers to the original Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland. When the wicked witch of the west gets crushed under the house (unfortunately not melted by tenderness) and she dies, her clogs shoot off her. I think.
